1. To enter your dog please complete the following form by Friday, August 7th, 2026. If you have any questions please reach out to salinedogoftheyear@gmail.com.



2. The contest is open to dogs in the Saline Area School District who are outstanding in offering companionship. 

3. The purpose of the contest is to recognize the companionship that dogs offer. Desired attributes are: Helpfulness to the family or individual (40%); Playfulness (20%); Obedience (25%); and Photogenic (15%) 

4. From the photos, videos and nomination forms which are submitted, three to five dogs will be selected by a panel of judges to be featured on the Saline Community Fair Facebook page for the public to vote online for their favorite dog in the People’s Choice Dog segment of the competition, and for the owner and dog to appear at the Saline Community Fair on Friday, September 4th, 2026 at 5:30 p.m.

5. All health information and shots will need to be up-to-date for the dogs selected to come to the fair. Immunization information will need to be provided at the fair.

6. Up to $500 in awards may be presented to the top dogs in the Saline Dog of the Year Contest. 

7. Dogs who were previously selected for the top 5 are not eligible to be entered into the contest.
